mahakala

‘Mahakala’ exists in Tibetan culture to scare away your fears…he is a fierce deity that prevails over the dark night of the soul.  give him your worries, anxieties and pain and he will transform them into light. he wears a crown of five skulls to change the five kleshas (greed, hatred, ignorance, arrogance, doubt & false views) into wisdom. this image combines a Tibetan god and Hindu goddesses, imagery found in many places in india…i painted this while on using a bed frame as a easel at Dolma Ling in 2005.  30” x 66” acrylic on paper, framed in black wood, $6,000.
